Alumni Award Categories

Lucy Wheelock Award

This award honors an alumna/alumnus who has demonstrated exemplary service to their profession or their community. It recognizes alumni who have achieved distinction through exemplary leadership by fostering excellence in their field, advocating for social justice, stimulating systemic change, and promoting diversity.

Young Alumni Award

This award honors an alumna/alumnus who has demonstrated leadership potential in their profession. This award will be given to an alumni who has graduated from a BU Wheelock-affiliated undergraduate or graduate degree program in the last 10 years. It is highly suggested that a nominee be someone who is 35 years or younger or new to their career field.

Global Impact Award

This award honors an alumna/alumnus who has demonstrated outstanding achievement within a global context. Qualified nominees may be internationally or locally based as long as their work demonstrates international impact in the betterment of a community or to the circumstances of a group of individuals.

Distinguished Contribution to the Alma Mater & Alumni

This award honors an alumna/alumnus who has made significant contributions to the BU Wheelock College of Education & Human Development community. Qualified nominees must demonstrate active engagement in advancement of Wheelock in teaching, research and service to both, alumni and current students. Some examples include: involvement in the life of the College, serving on an advisory board, active participation in the Regional Alumni Network, mentoring current students and alumni, supervising student teachers, volunteering at College events, and teaching for the College.

Trailblazer Award

This award honors an alumna/alumnus who is an established professional and who has made a successful transition in their career to a new area of practice following their time at BU Wheelock. The nominee could identify as a nontraditional-aged learner or an individual who has navigated a career change. The recipient is an individual who has exemplified promise in their new field and demonstrated a commitment to innovation, problem solving, and fostering excellence.
