Amber B. Sansbury is a PhD candidate in education at George Mason University, focusing on Early Care & Education. Ms. Sansbury is a proud native of Columbus, Georgia. After completing her undergraduate education in 2009, she thrived in a labor organizing and policy career throughout the Southeast and DMV area. She is currently a CEED Research Fellow for the Head Start-IDEA Parent Advocacy Ecosystem project with the Center for Evaluation Innovation and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. She is deeply committed to shared policymaking and action to challenge anti-Black structures in schools. Her dissertation examines the cultural values and race-related beliefs that motivate African American parents\u2019 and African American ECE teachers\u2019 shared racial socialization and identity development processes.<\/p>\n
Ms. Sansbury believes that family engagement can be a powerful means to build responsive and goal-oriented relationships in ECE settings. Her work at the BU Center on the Ecology of Early Development (CEED) focuses on centering parent voice in collective advocacy, program evaluation of early care and education, and research partnerships through a racial equity lens.<\/p>\n
