Job Description: The Graduate Coordinator is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the BUILD program. Applicants must Be eligible for a Federal Work Study award (after completing and submitting a FAFSA), and be an entering or current Boston University graduate student in the Wheelock College of Education, School of Social Work, or similar program.<\/p>\n

Primary Responsibilities:
\nRecruiting, interviewing, and selecting the tutoring corps of lead tutors
\nDeveloping public school and community tutoring sites, reviewing existing sites, making recommendations for new sites
\nMeeting with site directors to verify scheduling and program supervision
\nCoordinating transportation needs of tutors
\nDeveloping and conducting training and orientation for tutoring corps
\nSupervising and training lead tutors
\nReporting to Executive Director of College Access and Student Success in BU Wheelock and BUILD committee
\nPreparing reports and conducting evaluations<\/p>\n

SARP is hiring Prevention Interns who will be in person for Fall 2023. We are reaching out to your organization because we are dedicated to increasing diverse voices at Boston University. One of the ways we do that is through inclusive hiring practices for our student staff positions.<\/p>\n

Students must be graduate students, able to commit 24 hours\/ week, and available Wednesday from 12-2pm for supervision and team meetings. Interns must be enrolled in a BU graduate program and they will be compensated at an hourly wage for their work. Graduate Assistant (GA) will have both administrative and student duties. 12-15 hours a week.<\/p>\n

Primary responsibilities:
\nAdministrative: GA will work with our confidential database to draft faculty accommodation letters, updating database with student notes, work at the front desk, as well as other projects as assigned.<\/p>\n

Student Case-load:
\nOnce trained, GA\u2019s will carry a rotating caseload of approximately 10-12 students per semester who have been diagnosed with a variety of disabilities including learning, attentional, physical and\/or psychiatric. Tasks will include, reviewing student documentation, shadowing staff and drafting notes, running one-to one and group \u201cStrategic Coaching Sessions\u201d with a focus on time- management and self-advocacy skills. GA\u2019s will monitor student progress, keeping detailed written records, coordinate with other departments, including faculty and providing regular feedback to the Student Services Coordinator and Associate Director as needed. Advanced students will receive training in providing intakes and ultimately will be expected to take on this task with supervision.<\/p>\n

\nEnrolled in a relevant Boston University graduate program
\nEnglish language proficiency
\nTechnical skills\/knowledge desirable with a high level of attention to detail and professionalism Empathy, compassion, and a deep sense of care for the larger BU community required Prior experience with students with disabilities a plus, but not required.<\/p>\n

The Graduate Intern for the Center for Inclusive Excellence (CIE) will help to advance the mission of the Center for Inclusive Excellence. The Center for Inclusive Excellence creates space for all students to explore their intersecting identities and critically engage across differences, centering the experiences of historically marginalized and underrepresented groups. The Center operates from an intersectional approach to cultural competency, diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI) and antiracism that fosters meaningful student engagement, academic success and personal enrichment.
\nThis position supports the retention and graduation efforts of the University by offering a variety of advocacy, support services, and educational resources designed to foster student success, particularly as it relates to traditionally under-served populations (such as, but not limited to race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, and disability). The position reports to the Director of the Center for Inclusive Excellence.<\/p>\n

Advocacy & Student Success Duties:
\n\u2022 Assist with the development, planning, coordination and set up of departmental events
\n\u2022 Update, prepare, and maintain evaluations and sign-in sheets for departmental events (i.e. Community Office Hours, educational workshops, discussion forums, etc.). Graduate Intern will be responsible for compiling survey responses, pulling out themes, transferring information to an Excel document, and making routine updates on a regular basis.
\n\u2022 Research, develop, and maintain an advocacy\/resource directory of campus and community organizations (i.e. Research outside publications, contact campus and community organizations for possible updates, promote organizations by the way of flyers and other materials).
\n\u2022 Assist with providing mentorship and advising support to cultural affinity student organizations.
\n\u2022 Assist with new initiatives to address issues concerning uninvolved students (i.e. Coordinate focus groups, present information about the Center for Inclusive Excellence to classes and student organizations).
\nEducation & Training Duties:
\n\u2022 Assist in developing, promoting, coordinating, and scheduling training modules and presentations for undergraduate and graduate students that focus on Diversity, Equity, and inclusion (DEI) education and cultural competence.
