BU Wheelock\u2019s Nate Jones<\/a>, associate professor of special education, has been appointed to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) Committee on the Future of Education Research at the Institute of Education Sciences (IES)<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Jones, the committee will explore the best ways to leverage research funding to address emerging challenges in educational practice and. Committee members will inform IES on issues such as which emerging problems need new research; how best to organize requests for applications for that research; new methods or approaches for conducting the research; and new and different types of research training investments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIES has played an important role throughout my research career, so I am both honored and thrilled to be invited to contribute to this committee,\u201d explains Jones, who served as an IES-supported postdoc at Northwestern University\u2019s Institute for Policy Research.  \u201cIt has now been 20 years since IES\u2019s founding, and this committee will play an important role in helping shape the next chapter of educational research.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At BU Wheelock, Jones is an associate professor of Special Education and a founding member of the BU Faculty of Computing and Data Sciences. In his research, Jones focuses on teacher quality, teacher development, and school improvement, with a specific emphasis on conceptualizing and measuring teaching effectiveness.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
