Maria Paredes

Maria E. Paredes is currently the senior middle school advisor with the GEAR UP program at BU Wheelock. Her school site is Mario Umana Academy in East Boston. She primarily works with 7th and 8th graders on college and career awareness, financial literacy and transition into High School. Programming includes: workshops, one-on-one or small group advising, field trips and after-school activities, in both English and Spanish.

Previously, Maria worked for Chica Project as their AmeriCorps fellow and was in charge of trainer mentors, and leading the SEL and cultural competency programming for high school girls. She has also volunteered for UWander through culturally immersive service trips to the Dominican Republic and served high school students.
