Cara Mattaliano

Assistant Director, Strategic Partnerships & Community Engagement

Cara Mattaliano is the assistant director of strategic partnerships and community engagement at BU Wheelock. In this role, she promotes and facilitates partnerships with the community, local government, international educational institutions, and the private sector.

Before joining BU Wheelock, Ms. Mattaliano led the Specialized Services department at Catalyst Maria, a K-12 charter school in Chicago, where she developed and implemented data-driven, holistic systems to support 250 students with diverse learning needs. She began her career in education as a special education high school math teacher and Teach for America corps member in Chicago.

Ms. Mattaliano graduated from Princeton University with a BA in history and holds an MA in teaching special education from the Relay Graduate School of Education. She recently graduated from the Harvard Graduate School of Education with an MEd in education policy and analysis. Before beginning her career in education, Cara played professional volleyball for one year in Copenhagen, Denmark. As a graduate student at Harvard, she worked on the Boston Pathways Partnership team with the Project on Workforce and BU Wheelock to further an initiative to close opportunity gaps and ensure all Boston Public Schools students graduate college and career ready.
