Amine Yakine

Doctoral Student

Amine Yakine is a doctoral student at BU Wheelock College of Education & Human Development in the Educational Policy & Leadership Studies program. Amine’s research focus is on curriculum decolonization, culturally relevant pedagogies, the historical conscientization of teachers, student agency, and truth and reconciliation in the humanities curriculum.

Amine joined Boston Public Schools as a social studies faculty member in 2022. Before joining BPS, Amine taught and served in Salem Public Schools for three years as a teacher leader and for four years as a history and philosophy teacher at MHS.  As a faculty member of color, Amine is passionate about quality democratic public education, abolitionist teaching, pedagogy of liberation, equity, educational justice, antiracism, and truth and reconciliation. Amine believes in educating the whole child/student by empowering students to think for themselves and succeed in school and life. Amine is a strong advocate for closing the equity and funding gaps for all students and communities.
