Marnie Reed Elected to Nominating Committee of TESOL International
Marnie Reed, BU Wheelock clinical professor of language education, has been elected to the TESOL International Association’s Nominating Committee. Dr. Reed, who is also the program director for BU Wheelock’s TESOL Education program, will join the committee on January 1, 2021.
TESOL is an international association of professionals advancing the quality of English language teaching. The Nominating Committee solicits nominations for TESOL leadership elections (president, board of directors, and the next year’s Nominating Committee).
“The TESOL International Association has been representing and serving English language teachers, scholars, and students for more than 50 years,”says Dr. Reed. “It’s an honor for me to support their critical work through this leadership position.”
At BU Wheelock, Dr. Reed focuses on second language acquisition, specifically in phonology. Her current areas of interest and research are the role of auditory feedback in the perception and production of connected discourse; the role of metalinguistic feedback in the acquisition of morphosyntax; and the role of metacognition in cross-linguistic awareness of the pragmatic functions of English prosody. She has been a consultant to academic institutions, government, and industry, both domestically and internationally.
